Occupational Health & Returning to Work

Empowering Your Workforce for Seamless Transitions

Did you know that according to OSHA

  • 40% of total injuries and illnesses are strains and sprains
  • Musculoskeletal injuries are the most common
  • Median lost time for specific disorders include carpal tunnel (27 days); tendonitis (14 days), musculoskeletal disorders (11 days); and soreness and back pain (8 days)
  • Work-related musculoskeletal disorders in the US account for more than 600,000 injuries (34% of lost work days)
  • Employees spend as much as $20 billion a year on musculoskeletal work-related injuries

Additionally, the average claim for a strain/sprain is $17,000. Direct costs (worker’s compensation and other medical expenses) from musculoskeletal injuries nationwide are between $45 and $54 billion. Indirect costs are higher than the direct costs and include such things as lost productivity, employee training, damaged goods, low employee morale, increased absenteeism, and negative company relations.
